They were the first women ever to receive the California Restaurant Writer's "Chef of The Year" Award. Too Hot Tamales:

Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger are two of America's most admired chefs. They met in 1978 at Le Perroquet in Chicago, where they were the first women to ever work in that prestigious kitchen. They've been business partners since 1981 and together have owned three of Los Angeles' hottest restaurants. Their eclectic cuisine is seasoned by their formal training and influenced by travels to Thailand, India, Mexico and other exotic locales.

Chefs Milliken and Feniger are owners of the award-winning Border Grill in Santa Monica, CA, and the new Ciudad, in downtown, Los Angeles. Border Grill was named one of the 40 best restaurants by the LA Times, one of the best restaurants in America by Gourmet Magazine and was honored with Restaurants & Institutions Magazine's prestigious IVY Award. An additional Border Grill will open in Las Vegas in '99.

Chefs Milliken and Feniger are known to millions of TV viewers through their two popular series, "Too Hot Tamales" and "Tamales World Tour," on the Food Network. They have authored four cookbooks, Cooking With Too Hot Tamales (William Morrow '97), Cantina (Sunset, '96), Mesa Mexicana ('94) and City Cuisine ('89).
